Purpose. The aim of this paper is to develop a numerical model investigate the stability Angouran underground mine batching room, in which appropriate support systems are selected, designed, and compared choose most optimal case. Methods. Stability analysis carried out by critical shear strain criterion using finite element method (FEM). effect system on room has been determined for two types composite systems: one, incorporating rock bolt shotcrete, other, comprising steel frame with one-meter distancing based comparing displacements around stopes amount allowable strains resulted from Sakurai criterion. Findings. results show that excavation without causes its instability failure, so it imperative design suitable according geomechanical stress conditions area. Comparison between selected also shows there not much difference these both cases, can be provided. Originality. A wide range parameters involved calculation were explored. Results suggest failure seems promising tool when used correctly. Considerable time saving achieved losing accuracy. Practical implications. Numerical methods utilized analyze tunnels non-circular cross-sections, considering heterometric ground tunnel, often heterogeneous situ stresses, mass behavior tunnel face effects. By selecting criteria, possible identify weaknesses excavations via modeling an it.
